The U.S. Government and substantially every other government in the world is in the business of killing people and destroying property. It is why they have a standing military and the weapons to defend themselves from aggressors allegedly wanting to use their stockpiles against them. Governments claim these weapons are to maintain peace, protect territory, and keep us safe. It is the same rationalization that inspires people to own personal firearms.

The side effects are war, gun violence, and irrational fear of humans. Is all this fear and distrust justified, or are we too stupid to see what all these deadly weapons are being used for? When a bullet is fired or a bomb is dropped, do we consider the consequences? For some illogical reason, we do not substantially care unless a shot is fired...
