Being a sober tea toddler has shown me how the public as a whole functions.  I never realized until recently the volume and frequency of alcohol consumption occurring daily in America.  I always thought it was a working-class thing that accompanied meals, leisure, and work around the house.  It didn't happen to me that every person I knew was buzzed or sloshed when they were at home or off the clock.  Each person had an alcoholic beverage of choice.  Some drank a particular beer, another segment of budget wine, and one or two liked the hard stuff.
