Things you should have to do to be an American Citizen and qualify as an adult are voting, paying taxes, staying healthy, and being kind to other people. 

Voting has to be made mandatory for all citizens to maintain citizenship. Voting should be only by mail and include a unique federal government identification number like a Social Security Account Number only used for voting. One ID per vote would ensure integrity and accountability. When a birth is registered in this country or becomes a citizen, they are issued an identification number. Those without a mailing address must pick up a ballot at any post office. Elections can only be held once a year in November for all public offices. Primaries one year to narrow the field and elections the next to fill the office.
