My Dragon-in-law had a personality transplant since I yelled at her on the drive home from the dentist. She didn’t come to my birthday barbeque but  her birthday card was lined with cash and an offer to mind the children so Cal and I could get away together.

I considered ringing to check she’d taken her tablets but instead I rang to thank her and to set a date before her amazingly busy retirement scuppered the whole idea. The first weekend she had free was close to our wedding anniversary, perfect.

When Cal heard her offer he said we should get back to the old days and go cycling. We met through my flatmate Dave who was Cal’s cycling buddy. When we were dating we’d take cycle day-trips.
