Tori wasn’t sure she’d heard correctly. The ancient radio technology they were using to communicate had a crackly, distorted sound to it, and words could be hard to distinguish.
Not that the crackles were the real problem. “Hold up. Are you saying Mr. Gao isn’t Mr. Gao—that he killed Mr. Gao?”
“Affirmative,” Brian said. “He thought we’d accept him better if we thought we knew him."
“But didn’t Mr. Gao want to destroy all of humanity?” Tori wondered how much her grandma knew about that. Had she realized Gao thought humans were a pox on the universe?
Though, come to think of it, Tori’s grandma was a bit of a radical. Even if she had known, she might not have cared. Though Tori couldn’t quite see...
