Tori couldn’t fathom what Gabe had been doing on the other ship for the hour and a half she’d been helping Mr. Gao. How could he not have found the air filter? Once he got the maintenance hatches cleaned up and sent pictures of them all, it was easy to spot. It sat right in the front of the second hatch and looked exactly like their own air filter except smaller, and on its side instead of upright.

It took Gabe half an hour to figure out the butterfly clips holding the unit in place in the hatch.

Tori could have done it in less than ten minutes.

Once he had the unit disconnected, he had no idea how to clean it. Hadn’t he ever done any maintenance at all? Even in his house?

Obviously not, Tori realized when Gabe sheepishly explained his mother’s attit...
