“Nonsense,” Gabe said as soon as Brian spouted his line about not being essential. “If anything happens to you, what are we all going to eat?”
Brian grinned at him. “Nothing’s going to happen to me. Watch.” He stepped into the airlock and started the decompression sequence without bothering to look at the extensive checklist Tori had sent them both, and even before they radioed over to let Mr. Gao know that he would be coming.
“I’m heading back to the bridge to man the comms. Can you keep an eye out here?” Tori asked him.
Gabe nodded. In his suit, he couldn’t see his armband, but there was a screen in the wall next to him. Gabe adjusted it, so he could see both inside the airlock and outside the ship.
