The girls were acting weird.

First, they huddled in a corner, whispering. Then Tori disappeared for a while, back to the bathroom of all places—and she’d just come from there. Brian had been waiting on her forever.

Now Tori was back in the galley area, fussing with her armband and setting up the 3-D printer, while Lu hovered over her shoulder.

Brian sidled in and tried to get close enough to see what they were doing, but he couldn’t tell anything from the code scrolling on the tiny screen.

“Did you need something, Brian?” Lu asked in a tone of voice that his mother often used when she wanted him to go away.

“Wondered what you all were working on. Our supplies are limited, and we should make printing decisions together.”
