Tori didn’t know whether to laugh or curse when Gabe joined her on the bridge forty minutes later.

It was a good thing, she told herself. Good that he didn’t seem too much worse for wear. Good that he seemed to have regained all his usual faculkties, or at least she assumed so from the way he’d reverted to his normal condescending sneer. “Lights and a full sensor array? Not bad for a grease monkey.”

“It’s more than you managed in the two hours before the lights went out,” she said, trying not to show how relieved she was that he wasn’t talking nonsense anymore.
