Even though she would have rather stayed to see Sam, Eleanor had left the Greeley’s place as soon as she was done tutoring. She knew her parents were now tracking her time at her work detail. It made her furious, but what could she do? She didn’t want to cause any more trouble for the Greeleys than she already had.

She suspected that her parents would have made her quit tutoring if they hadn’t just signed the papers agreeing to it. They didn’t want her teaching, and they didn’t want her hanging out with Sam, but they couldn’t afford to look like negligent parents who didn’t actually read the agreements they signed for their kids.
