Eleanor hated her hair.

Hated, hated, hated her hair.

She’d skip going to school until it grew back—or at least until she could get into a decent stylist, but her parents had insisted she had to attend as usual today.

Wiping away a stray tear, she adjusted the giant blue bow she’d tied around her head to cover up some of the disaster.

“You’re just calling attention to the ragged edges with that thing,” her sister, Mandy, said.

Eleanor scowled at the mirror. Why did Mandy have to be right? She yanked the scarf out of her hair. “I don’t think I’m feeling well.”

Mandy laughed. “You’re fine. Just wear a hat.”
