Rico nearly cheered when I walked down the stairs. The poor boy who had been acting as my replacement stood staring at me, stunned. Samuel still wasn’t here. My guess was that Mr. White hasn’t informed this kid that his services wouldn’t be needed anymore. “Evening! I uh… I didn’t think you’d be here tonight.” Kid was scared too. With look I was giving him, any little confidence the kid had gained was gone. Question was if I should kick him out or train. Then again, when I left, it would be helpful if my replacement knew how to hold a tray.
