“I can’t believe you’re clocking out early.” Samuel was whispering to me. Before our shift, I had explained that I needed to run an errand. He still didn’t believe me. Especially since I never took time off.
Removing my apron, I smiled. “I’ve covered for you plenty of times before. Besides, it’s just a couple of hours, not the whole night.”
“I knew that would come back and bite me someday.” He laughed. “Good thing it’s yet another slow night.”
