Five 

     I look at Tim and Marie, then back to Allivia. "How can I be in trouble? I just got here."
     "You're not supposed to be here," she says. "You're alive."
     "The angels told me I wasn't alive or dead," I say.
     "That doesn't make any sense," she says. "You must be one or the other."
     "Unless he's a cat in a box," Tim says.
     Marie says, "What's that about a cat?"
     "It's an old thought experiment," Tim says. "No actual cats were harmed. But it means that under the right circumstances you could be both alive and dead."
