With an intake of surprised breath, Eban found himself looking into his treasured orchard. The trees were lush, green, and heavy with bright red apples. White clouds drifted lazily through the sapphire sky overhead. The air filling his lungs felt crisp, light, and miraculously clean. This was the world he had loved. This was the world he had meticulously collected and packed into a ship, along with his people. All would travel far and be replanted in a new home under a bright young star that would give them life for hundreds of generations to come. It had only cost one old man staying behind to push the button and launch the ship. It had cost so very little for such a big reward.
