Abigail heard the beaver chewing on the door. She pressed the circle at the bottom of the phone and nothing happened. The screen was blank, reflecting her own face back at her. She pressed the smaller buttons on the side. She clicked the oblong button at the top. None of them did anything. The door shook in its frame. Shavings piled under the crack. Abigail didn’t have long.
She held down the top button. The shape of a battery with a little red marking at the end of it and a charge cable floating up toward it. The battery was dead. Where the hell was her charger? She threw the phone down. Even if she found the charge, it would take too long to power up. At the most she had two minutes.
