Abigail Clark looked through her blinds toward the house of her new neighbors, the Holloways. They were a younger couple, barely old enough for the 65-plus community. Abigail was glad to see a man. There were too many spinsters, Abigail among them, at Golden Sunrises as it was. Abigail wouldn’t be going after him, or any man for that matter. She’d promised herself to Michael, and he hadn’t come back from Korea. A lot of women who’d been in the same situation had moved on, but Abigail kept her word. An oath was sacred, whether the person that it was made to was there to see it or not. She’d see Michael in Heaven, if both of them had lived well enough.
