Bill and Deb Holloway were walking for their health and to see the neighborhood. The houses of Golden Sunrise Village were uncustomizable. They varied in style—ranches being the most popular, followed by two-story town houses—but they all had very 70s “natural wood” paneling. Deb thought that if Charles Manson had planned a 65-and-over community and golf course, it would look a lot like this. And of course, there were no sidewalks. The designers must’ve assumed that no one would be walking, maybe a safe assumption considering the age group they were catering to. So the two were in the street, holding hands. At least there was lots of green, from the trees, the bushes, the lawn. Deb loved spring, when the world finally came to life again.
