Gavin remained at the Maywell home later than he ever had before. Harold, in shock or acceptance, allowed his presence to continue. The three sat outside beside a fire, listening to the noises of the night, but Harold was never able to relax. He couldn’t shake the feeling that they were being watched. His head swiveled from side to side in search of the cause.
His intuition wasn’t wrong, but he never found the watcher.
