I stormed out of the house in a hurry. I didn’t stop to see my brothers or mother, but I was sure that she would keep Petra safe for as long as she could, and that would be enough for her to get on her feet and walk back home herself. If my father kills her, then he would turn the entire Vampire race against him. My father was a lot of things, but stupidity did not befit him.

Then again, do I even care what happens? Why it is important if Petra lives or dies, that is irrelevant to me. Why should I care about the affairs of a world I have long forgotten? Or as my father puts it, “The world can go fuck itself.”
