I laid the papers I had just read in a small pile next to the dusty box. The unread papers made a much larger pile.
It was going to be a long night.
I went downstairs, got a glass of water, and then stopped to check on my husband. He was engrossed in his book, feverishly taking notes on a pad of paper next to him.
He waved absently at me and threw a kiss in my general direction. It looked like he was in for a long night too.
