Paige leaned forward, touching her fingers to the forehead of the sleeping five-month-old baby girl, Andrea. Her lips quivered as she slept and Paige gave a faint smile, despite her own trembling chin. Not only did she have to deal with the death of her best friend, but she also had to step into the role Kimberly had prescribed in her will. With no other family to claim her daughter, Kimberly had listed Paige as the legal guardian.

Blowing out her cheeks, Paige rested against her sofa. Could she raise the little girl on her own? Would Kevin care to raise a child that wasn’t his?
