     His father was gone, and he hadn’t had the chance to say goodbye.  Nick Colquhoun’s plane taxied toward the terminal at O’Hare International Airport, a last minute flight brought on by the sudden news of his father’s illness.  As soon as the jet had touched down, Nick pulled out his cell phone to check his voice mail.  There was only one message, from his younger brother, two short words choked with emotion, “Dad’s dead.”  Nick wrestled with whether to call back right away.  He decided to wait until he was off the plane and could find a place with relative privacy.  It was the sort of call you wanted to make when there weren’t strangers crowding...
