When the three strangers left and the door thumped behind them, Adelynn turned her gaze to Neba, who was now on her feet, swearing and stretching out her limbs.
“Stupid servants,” Neba muttered to herself as she rolled her head to one side and then the other, massaging her neck with her fingers.
Adelynn stayed where she was, her hand still half-way towards her knife hidden in her bag, too confused to move.
“Do you want to sit down?” Neba asked, not looking at Adelynn and moving away from the throne. “You can have my seat.”
“What…?” Adelynn couldn’t seem to find the words to express what she’d just seen.
