Neba’s body was all pain. Every part of her seemed to be sizzling and boiling away as the scalding water continued to rain down. She tried to scream, but water filled her mouth and burned against her dry tongue.
The pain was unbearable, as though her skin were melting away from the rest of her. The agony, rolling over her in constant waves, blinded her and chased any other thoughts from her mind. The pain kept coming, and though her body yearned to lose consciousness - to break away from the reality of the torture and die - she knew she wouldn’t. She would endure every moment of this pain because she was as good as immortal. Because only one person knew how to kill her, and it was not this man.
