“The ones that came through the roof of the hall?”
Adelynn sighed, looking at Ryl but not saying anything. He held her right hand in his, spreading a fresh mixture of salve over the dried skin. Relief coursed through Adelynn as the pain started to fade.
They sat cross-legged in the sand outside the small hut Neba had led them to. She had declared it their resting place for the night. It was situated on the beach, and the waves crashed down against the sand only a few yards from them.
The nighttime air, while not cool by any means, was much more bearable than the afternoon sun had been while they had run from Enadell.
