Voices echoed down the hallway, ricocheting off the walls and enveloping Adelynn as she walked with the group of four Firewalkers around her. She couldn’t make out distinct voices, but she could tell that the noise came from a large group - and they were all very agitated about something.
Mishal’s done what I asked, she thought to herself, trying to slow the rapid pace of her heartbeat. He’s made the execution public. And it will be in the room where I left the stone.
She walked wordlessly, the din of the voices growing louder as she and the guards moved further down the hallway. Her steps no longer echoed in the hallway as they had when she’d previously passed through, now drowned out by the anticipation of the crowd.
