“I woke up in that hospital in Vallenlock just a few hours after you left - at least that’s what the doctor told me.”
Ryl was in the chair next to Adelynn’s bed, his hands folded in his lap and his gaze upward, as though the story of his journey from Vallenlock to Enadell was written on the ceiling.
“I stayed there for a few weeks - not quite as long as anyone expected me to, since they told me my treatment and stay there had been paid for well in advance.”
He shot Adelynn a knowing look, which she countered with a hard, stoic expression.
