If Nassella was surprised that a young girl would be carrying so much money, she didn’t show it. Instead she smoothed a hand over her white-grey hair and motioned for the waitress to take the coins from the table.

She produced a jumble of keys from the folds of her white dress and carefully selected two keys, which she placed on the table.

“Rooms 18 and 19 in the Northwest corner of the second story,” she said in a matter-of-fact tone.

“Thank you,” Adelynn nodded at Nassella and picked up the keys, handing one to Neba. “Is there any chance the kitchens are still running?”

Nassella looked thoughtfully at Adelynn. “No,” she said, her head cocked to one side. “But I can have some of the dinner’s leftovers brought to the table.”
