Beware misogyny dressed in feminist robes – that would be my warning to those at risk of being swept up in the feverish idolatry of the new Star Wars character, Rey. Don’t get me wrong – I burst with pride when she single-handedly performed a spectacular handbrake turn in the Millennium Falcon, and I wept with joy when she turned on her lightsaber for the first time, drawing it up to her face in battle-ready stance. The problem is most definitely not with Rey. The problem is the universe she lives in – and in that respect, I guess she really is just like the rest of us.
It seemed like a glorious undertaking - the first Star Wars movie in a decade, and the first to feature the original characters of Han Solo, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca in over 30 years...
