The non-charitable, glib response to this biographical drama film about the legendary Marie Curie would be that it fails - which is unfortunate to say the least. A more charitable summation would be that it lacks the filmmaking maturity required for a project of this nature. Whether you prefer the charitable or non-charitable take on this movie, the fact remains that it simply didn’t turn out very well – to the extent that sympathy can perhaps be felt for those involved. It certainly is a powerful feminist storytelling opportunity missed. A curious state of affairs, indeed.
