The iconic status of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is undisputed. Arriving in 1982 just three years after his genre-defining classic, Alien, Blade Runner delivered a stunning vision of a technologically advanced future – looking all the way forward to 2019. Written by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples, the film is very loosely based on the 1968 Philip K. Dick novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, in that it uses some of the characters from that story to muse on the broadest themes it addresses.
