The award-winning historical drama, Mudbound, is a film that depicts American racism by comparing the experiences of two World War II veterans returning home from European battlefields. That’s a very simple premise, but to reduce this work in this way is to do it a great disservice. Mudbound achieves a good deal more than that, in a nuanced, deft unpicking of deeply ingrained social injustices.
