Keanu Reeves may be ‘The Internet’s Boyfriend,’ beloved by millions, but his filmography does contain a range of deeply problematic stories. One of the most recent of these is 2018’s Replicas, which he produced in addition to playing the lead role. In many ways, it is astonishing that tales as blatantly sexist as these are still told in cinema in this modern age, but we can at least take comfort in the fact that it bombed at the box office – indicating that audiences in general also rejected it, even if that rejection was for its poor execution, rather than its misogyny.
