The 2014 black comedy The Voices is a fascinating gem of a movie that presents an unusual but refreshing spin on the sexist trope of disposable women. While the film is about a man who becomes a serial killer of women, the script uses specific pacing and dramatic beats to highlight the way in which most films featuring the same allow for the abdication of responsibility for men. It is deft and subtle work that leaves the viewer with plenty to digest once the final credit sequence has ended.
