So, Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Or, as I like to call it, “How To Turn A Perfectly Good Female Superhero Into A Tedious Disney Princess”. Here is a movie that was highly anticipated – just as every Marvel movie is – but in the end, turned out to be the crowning achievement in a long line of misogynist cinema. That was a surprising turn of events, given that it is written and directed by Joss Whedon.

The thing is, it is a provable fact that there is no reason whatsoever for a lack of female-led superhero movies and, this being the case, Marvel has come under fire – perhaps more than most film studios – for its lack of female leads.
