– asking him not to drink it, and telling him exactly what the bottle contains. Here, Michael chooses to ‘prove’ himself to David, instead of acquiescing to the requests of the woman, and heeding her advice. The consequence of this is his descent into vampirism.

But, of key significance is the fact that the vampirism of The Lost Boys is not the romantic vampirism of other Hollywood productions. There is no ‘sparkle’ dripping from perfect bone structure on these creatures of the night, as seen in Twilight. These vampires do not live in the same opulence of those seen in Interview With The Vampire. Instead, these are bitter, monstrous beings – bent on anarchy, plotted from their dank cave lair. Their masculinity is indeed toxic.
