Moreover, the actor in the film – Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy) – is transformed from an elitist misogynist, to a staunch advocate for Catrin’s work, because he comes to understand that the real inclusion of women on equal terms to men is integral to everyone’s success.

Finally, there is the story thread concerning history, and propaganda. Catrin, and her Ministry Of Information superiors, take the fact that the story of Lily and Rose is featured in a newspaper article to mean that it is entirely true and accurate. She is disappointed when she learns that she has travelled to meet them, and the story is fabricated.
