She begins forcefully dismantling the furniture to which she is chained, and manages to break free – sneaking into the main house to find Nina.

When Steve arrives, he escapes with Shannon and Nina in a car, and Benjamin gives chase. The whole sequence ends with Benjamin having driven into a tree, and Steve and Shannon’s car hanging over a cliff-edge. This is the clichéd moment of redemption for Steve. He scrambles out of the car, and panics as Nina and Shannon are trapped in the back seat – precariously dangling over the ocean below. He grabs both of them, but can’t lift them. Shannon begs him to let her go and save Nina. He hesitates, but relents – saving Nina first, then returning to save Shannon.
