She knows full well what the implications of their destruction would be for the wider galaxy, and must do everything she can to ensure that an opposition to the First Order remains.

Leia is supported by – among others - Lieutenant Connix (Billie Lourd), Commander D’Acy (Amanda Lawrence), and Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern). It is Vice Admiral Holdo’s relationship with Leia that makes this plot thread an important part of the story of women within Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
