Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 is a huge surprise. Not because it is a worthy follow-up to its predecessor, but because it is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to even attempt to embrace a progressive, feminist-leaning narrative. And it is relatively successful in that attempt, all things considered. Despite being centred on a white man, the film uses its expansive canvas to include focus on the story of women, too – both through female characters, and through the examination of the consequences incurred by the actions of men.
