Hud is an interesting character, because we get to know him well through his voiceover and filming persepctive, even though we only see him twice – once at the beginning of the film, and once at the end, when he is dead. He is not a stereotypical alpha-male, nor is he an example of the clichéd, stereotypical ‘weak’ male that is often depicted in horror films as the non-alpha. Instead, he is an entirely relatable character who deals with stress using humour, and is sometimes brave, and sometimes scared.
