Obi-Wan could keep an eye on him from a distance, in anticipation of Luke developing an aptitude for using The Force, like his father. It is never, at any time, suggested that Leia might have inherited a knack for Jedi mind-tricks – despite Luke and Leia being actual twins. Rather, she is dispatched to a life of aristocratic protocols and diplomacy, while Luke unknowingly shoulders the expectation of greatness.

It is to the credit of Princess Leia that, by the time she appears in Episode IV, she has become a force to be reckoned with without the aid of psychic magic.
