“So, how is work?” I asked.

“It’s there,” he replied. “Keeps the bills paid.”

“Sure, it pays the bills but does it feed your soul?

My friend and I were having a brew (or two) on his veranda. I knew – since the downturn – that there had been many changes at his work. His department had been downsized, and his role had changed considerably. He also knew he and his new boss were often at odds.
