There’s a story about starfish that has been told and retold countless times in countless manners. Research suggests that all the tales evolved from an original story by an American anthropologist, educator, and philosopher, Loren Eiseley. The story is called The Star Thrower.  

Though a far cry from the original text, this is the most common rendition.
