Growing up on a farm, I repaired and built more than my share of fences. Barbed wire fences, page-wire fences – even plank and rail fences. One of the simplest yet most effective fences I ever installed was an electric fence. These fences have a couple of strands of wire through which a current of electricity flows. Not the kind of electricity that’s dangerous; just the kind that gives you a jolt, like static electricity you get from walking on carpets – a sudden, sharp zap.
