“Am I the same person that you remember?”

I met a man once who had a seizure and awoke to discover that all of his memories were gone. Initially, when people asked him questions, all he heard was sounds. When they showed him pictures, all he saw was objects. When family members came to visit, all were strangers to him. When it was revealed that his ability to remember had been impaired and not his intellect, people began to rally around aiding him in the long journey of recovery and rediscovery.
