“How are you, Joyce?” asked the priest. His tone was gentle.
“I’m good, Father,” replied Joyce, “but you don’t look all that well.”
The priest was taken aback from the comment. He had expected to console Joyce and provide some solace as she moved through this difficult time. Joyce had suffered from progressive MS (multiple sclerosis) for nearly 20 years and now she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The MS had taken her mobility and now the cancer threatened to take her life. Though Joyce was receiving full care in a long-term care facility, she remained positive and engaged....
