“I thought something would have happened by now.”

I had been talking to a friend about potential. It was many years ago and I was feeling stuck at the time. Somewhere, in the back of my mind, I had clung to the notion that something great was destined to happen to me. And for years I plodded along waiting for the great “something” to occur. Perhaps the idea originated in my childhood. Mother had always told me I had a great potential – so many gifts. When I ventured out into the world a few people actually told me I was talented. I assumed (and falsely so) that time would eventually reward me.
