I swam for a few more meters before she found me. The cetacean. We recognized each other and I twirled into the wave, matching her dance. Her sharp nose bore scratches and dents from fights and wood from ships she’d scraped past. Her smooth, iridescent skin twinkled as the waves rushed over it. I’d decided to call her Indigo. The brightest color that shone in her rainbow reflective body. Like the times before, she slowed her swim and let me catch up. I held onto her dorsal fin and then pulled gently, letting her know I was ready. And like a knife she cut through the water, jolting forward and zipping us across the sea.
